Bicycle Journey

After a few days doing some research on the internet, and sending mails inquiring about some bicycles offered to sell, I finally bought my new one yesterday. You can find a lot of great bicycles here in Japan, because most of people own one and use it for their everyday's needs. But speaking about prices they are really expensive, so I decided to find a good used one and accomplished that goal. I found a really nice canadian guy who sold me his bike for only 4,000 yens (around US$43) and almost new, he only used it for two months. Including the basket, a light, a security lock and almost not use, it was a really big deal.

Here is where my blog really starts. I just arrived to Japan to start a new chapter of my life. I came here to study as a journey to improve my japanese language and continue with my studies in medicine, topics I may touch later. The purpose of this blog is to show the interesting spots I may find in my every day's living.

The Tokyo Tower

The Tokyo Tower was built in 1950’s as a communications tower but also as a symbol of the ascendancy of Japan as one of the biggest global economies. It has a height of 332 meters (1,901 fts) and it overpasses the Eiffel tower by 13 meters. The japanese people are proud that the tower is the tallest self-supporting steel structure in the world and the tallest artificial structure in Japan. It is located in the Minato district in Tokyo, less than 3 km of The Imperial Palace at central Tokyo.

The tower was originally intended for television broadcasts but a few years after its opening, radio antennas were installed. Thanks to its height, the broadcast signal can reach a radius of around 150 km covering the main cities in the Kanto region of Japan, where Tokyo is located.
